Jason Tran serves as an Associate Political Accounts Supervisor in Kaufman Legal Group’s Political Compliance Department, having joined the firm in July 2017. Jason works with candidates, political committees, unions and non-profits to manage their bank accounts, process contributions and issue expenditures. In addition, he prepares and files federal, state and local campaign finance reports.

Previously, Jason worked as a public and congressional affairs intern at the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, creating legislative briefs, communication and media strategies, and news articles. Jason’s path into politics began when he interned with San Jose Vice Mayor Maddison Nguyen and later Congressman Mike Honda, where he gained valuable experience in local and federal government. He also showed an interest in journalism, previously working for NBC Bay Area as a news intern.

Jason graduated from University of California, Berkeley, with degrees in media studies and public policy. He held leadership roles with the Associated Students of the University of California and the Asian American Pacific Islander Student Development Center. He also wrote for The Daily Californian, where he covered the school and community beat. Jason was born in Long Beach and raised in San Jose.
